Here we go!

So long, grape tree. September 21, 2010

Our grape tree fell over and died.  No such thing as a grape tree, you say?  Well, take a look at this.

Grapes growing from our grape tree branches.

We had a tree in the corner of our yard that was overtaken by our neighbor’s grape vines.  The tree had died before we moved in, but every summer it would bloom with beautiful grape leaves.  It was absolutely wonderful.  In late August and early September our backyard would smell like grape bubblegum.

And those grapes were sweet and delicious!  They were just right.  I didn’t think grapes would grow in the high desert of Colorado, but these ones were apparently just right for our climate.

Well, the other day we came home to find this.

Poor tree. Sad tree.

My husband, the insurance adjuster, immediately went outside to check for structural damage on the fence and to take pictures in case we need them for evidence.  I just wanted pictures for the blog.  Silly girl.

J ended up chopping the tree apart and doing the best he could to get it untangled from the vines.  And now our grape tree is no more.

I feel I should play a round or two of "Missing You" by P. Diddy.

Aw sad. Those grapes were quite tasty!

  2. Dad Says:

Can you salvage part of the grape vines or roots to replant. You would need to put up some poles or a trellace for it to grow on. Mom
