TWOsday Update Week 39! Woot! April 17, 2012

Filed under: TWOsday Updates — teamerickson @ 10:11 am

How far along?:  39 weeks and counting. Only 1-ish left! Wow, my due date is in one week. ONE WEEK. Wow. Wow. Wow. Am I ready? Who the heck knows? Like I said last week, it’d be real nice of Genevieve to wait until at least tomorrow so my mom will be here by the time we’re out of the hospital. But hey, if she comes today, whatevs. I’m getting so excited to meet her!

Maternity clothes:  Well I’ve been in sweats the past four days, so not much to say here. 🙂 I was sick over the weekend (see “Worst moment this week”) and I’m mostly recovered now, but not to the point where I want to change out of my sweats.

Stretch marks:  The ones I had with Gunnar are beginning to slowly (very slowly) grow. But it’s ok. I’ve settled in my mind that they’re my battle scars. I’ll be proud of them.

Sleep:  Slept like a rock on Friday night, but I’ve had a hard time falling asleep for the past two nights. And last night I had a horrible dream that Gunnar was diagnosed with some sort of breathing disease and that he died. It was terrible! I was bawling in my dream. Just horrible. When I heard him cry through the monitor this morning I said a huge thank you prayer to God that he’s still alive and breathing and just as fun as can be! He really cheered me up after my bad night. Here’s hoping I sleep better tonight. I need it!

Best moment this week:  Honestly, my best moment was probably hearing that I was not in labor and Genevieve was surely not on her way on Friday night. Another great moment was on Sunday when my friend Kelly stopped by and dropped off a sweet card, some beautiful flowers, and some ginger ale! So thoughtful of her! And so nice to see someone outside of my family since I’d been cooped up for a couple days.  (Thanks Kell! 🙂 ) And if you’re confused about what I just wrote, see my worst moment…

Worst Moment this week:   See my last post by clicking here. Because of this, I lost about 5 lbs. Don’t worry peeps, not a big deal for me. And who knows – I may have it back by the end of the week.

Movement:  Genevieve kept me up for a good while last night. She was excited about something. Not sure what. She was poking at my belly so hard I thought she might break my water! No such luck. 🙂 Needless to say, for the most part she isn’t moving quite as much cause it’s so tight in there, but when she does, boy howdy do I feel it!

Food cravings/aversions:  Cranberry juice. Weird, I know. But after the weekend I’ve had it totally makes sense. My body just wants fluids and cranberry juice sounds sooo good! I don’t really crave food quite yet, but there are certain things I definitely don’t want to eat.

Belly Button in or out?:  Just continuing to get flatter and flatter. Boy it looks weird. Gunnar still loves it though!

What I miss:  Eating. Ha! But it’s not baby girl’s fault. It’s the sickness.

What I am looking forward to:  My mama getting here on Friday morning! Then I’ll have my doctor appointment Friday afternoon and they’ll strip my membranes to see if we can get things started. Woohoo!

Milestones:  Genevieve is about 7-8 lbs and 19-21 inches, plus or minus on both those stats. She’s definitely not going to grow any bigger from here on out, so the good news is she’s at max capacity. And so am I! She’s still developing in there, but she’s not doing anything that she can’t do from the outside now. She’s just waiting for the perfect moment to make her entrance…

Symptoms:  Still nesting! Not quite as much the last couple days because of the sickness, but I did do the self-clean thing on my oven. Whoo! Also cleaned the floors and the living room and did a little laundry. Hoping to finish cleaning my stove top tomorrow. Whatever I can do without over-doing it!

TWOsday Update Week 38 April 10, 2012

Filed under: TWOsday Updates — teamerickson @ 2:12 pm

How far along?:  38 weeks and counting. Only 2-ish left! We are down to the wire, folks. This baby could come at any moment. I am personally hoping she holds on till the 22nd so she’ll be born on my dad and grandma’s birthday. Plus, my mom would be here for the birth if it were that day. And I am really, really hoping she doesn’t come until at least a week from today. That way my mom will be here when we get out of the hospital with Genevieve, so she can be here to help me with Gunnar. That’s probably the most stressful thing I have to think about right now: What the heck am I going to do with Gunnar if my mom isn’t here when Genevieve is born (or shortly thereafter)??? I really can’t imagine being at home by myself with a toddler and a newborn.

Now comes the question: Why wouldn’t J be able to help? Well, the plan is that he’ll take off the two days that we are in the hospital, but then he’ll go right back to work so that he can take his two weeks of paternal leave when his parents get here at the beginning of May. We have big plans to install a concrete patio and put sod down in the backyard, so he wants to use his two weeks off to work on home projects.

And all the ladies said, “Yes and Amen!

Maternity clothes: Oh I can’t wait to be out of them. I have a feeling it might be a while after Genevieve is here, but that’s ok. Losing any amount of weight will be encouraging compared to the weekly gain I’ve had over the past 9 months or so. I can’t remember what normal jeans feel like, though I can guarantee that they are a lot less comfortable. Haha! Yet they look so much better. So anyway, here’s to skinny jeans sometime in the next year! Or more if it takes longer! Or whenever! I’d just like to fit into my pre-Gunnar jeans again someday.

Stretch marks:  The ones I had with Gunnar are beginning to slowly (very slowly) grow. But it’s ok. I’ve settled in my mind that they’re my battle scars. I’ll be proud of them.

Sleep: My dreams have quieted down a little bit this week, but the funny thing is that J’s dream have gotten weird. I think he’s having sympathy dreams for me. 🙂 In other sleep news, last night I tossed and turned for a good portion of the night and woke up a few times to go potty. I can’t wait till I can sleep through the night again. Maybe Genevieve will be an early good sleeper and it’ll happen sooner than I think! I can always hope!

Best moment this week:  Easter! We had a great time on Saturday morning with Gunnar doing his first ever Easter Egg Hunt. He mostly got the concept, which made it pretty exciting. We put one Goldfish Cracker in each plastic egg and let him go to town. I know, not the most traditional thing to do, but he’s more of a savory guy than sweet, just like his daddy. And he never gets Goldfish at home, only at church, so the Goldfish were a welcome surprise.

Gunnar gets the eggs in the bucket with a little help from Dada.

He was super excited about eating his Goldfish Crackers

Easter Sunday at church was also pretty fun. J got up early to make breakfast for all the church volunteers and Gunnar and I got there in time to enjoy his hard work. 🙂 J and I worked in the toddler room for one of the services, then were able to sit and listen to another one. So we had a pretty busy time at church, but it was a great service. After church we headed over to our friends Judah and Candace’s house for Easter dinner. Our friends Phil and Kiffen, and Donald and Megan also came. Candace made a leg of lamb (which I had never had before and was delicious!!), J made a tri-tip and smoked a turkey breast, and everyone else brought yummy sides. We ate and ate and ate some more. By the end I was stuffed, but I still managed to have a piece of Candace’s homemade cheesecake. It was so good!! Then we all went home and went to bed early. 🙂

Our beautiful Easter dinner table all set and ready for food!

Worst Moment this week:  Same day. On Easter Sunday while J and I were working in the toddler room I accidentally stepped on Gunnar’s pinky with the heel of my high heeled shoe. (Yes, pregnant and heels can work together, and it actually helps alleviate back pain too!) Now, when I say I stepped on his pinky, it wasn’t just a quick miss-step, then I jumped off. I actually didn’t even realize I was on his pinky because he was behind me on the ground and I was holding another kid and opening the door for another gal to come in to the room. So I was standing on his pinky for a good while. I didn’t hear him screaming because there was no scream. It was one of those things where it’s so painful that your whole body just shakes and you gasp for air. Anyway, J finally realized what was going on and shoved me aside. Poor Gunnar had a good sized indentation on his pinky, but he could still move it just fine. He cried for a few minutes, but then ran off to play with the other kids. I felt so bad for him! It’s one thing when your kid falls or hurts themselves, but it’s a whole other thing when they get hurt and it’s all your fault. Mom fail!

Movement:  She’s still movin’ and a shakin’ in there. I’m pretty sure she’s still sunny side up too, since I think I feel her feet at the front of my belly. Ah well. She’ll come out somehow, someway, sometime.

Food cravings/aversions:  A good friend of mine, Julie, came over and brought me some of her homemade red velvet cake yesterday. She made it for a church event that she thought was going to be on Easter weekend, but it turns out its next weekend. So I am the very lucky/blessed/privileged recipient of the best red velvet cake I’ve ever had. Yay!!

Belly Button in or out?:  Just continuing to get flatter and flatter. Boy it looks weird. Gunnar still loves it though!

What I miss:  SLEEPING. I haven’t even been taking naps lately because I’ve been nesting while Gunnar is napping. Maybe not the best idea, but I’ve gotta do something to get this place in order before the baby comes!

What I am looking forward to:  My doctor appointment tomorrow afternoon. We’ll see if I’ve dilated anymore and check on how things are going. I think they’ll ask if I want them to strip my membranes to see if we can get the girl to come out, but as I said earlier, I’m not quite ready since my mom is still a week and a half away from being here.

Milestones:  Genevieve is right around the 7 lb. mark this week! (Gunnar was 7 lbs. 13 oz. when he was born.) She’s pretty much ready for her arrival as she’s developing surfactant in her lungs now. Surfactant is what will help her breathe, because it keeps the lungs from sticking together. I can’t wait to meet this little girl!

Symptoms:  This week it’s all about the nesting. I’ve been cleaning like a mad-woman. But I have to say I’m super excited about it because all of my laundry is done AND put away (I know!!), the basement is clean and ready for my mom to stay in it, and Genevieve’s clothes are all organized in her dresser and the bigger sizes are in labeled boxes stored away in the closet. Only a few more things on my to-do list and my house will be sparkling and ready for a new baby!

TWOsday Update Week 37 April 3, 2012

Filed under: TWOsday Updates — teamerickson @ 1:08 pm

How far along?:  37 weeks and counting. Only 3-ish left! Big news this week – we have reached “full term!” That means that as of right now the medical people consider Genevieve to be developed enough to thrive outside of the womb. Sooooo… any time now. 🙂

Maternity clothes:  I finally just spent the gift card my bro in law gave me for Target. I got two nursing tank tops and one nursing bra. I am so excited! They should get here between Friday and Tuesday. Whoopee! With Gunnar I only had one nursing tank. It’s just not enough. So this time, in addition to my white one, I’ll have a black and a coral colored one. Hopefully the sizes I ordered are right.

Stretch marks:  The ones I had with Gunnar are beginning to slowly (very slowly) grow. But it’s ok. I’ve settled in my mind that they’re my battle scars. I’ll be proud of them.

Sleep:  Oooo I have had the weirdest dreams lately. I am going to leave it at that since they are so weird and freaky that they may be considered TMI (Too Much Information), so let’s just say I’m getting enough rest, but it’s usually disturbing.

Best moment this week: Well let’s see… probably hearing that I’m already dilating and effacing. Yay Genevieve! Get yourself outta there! Another great moment was finding a Weber charcoal grill for J for $8 at a garage sale. He was so excited!

J's new charcoal grill

And the best moment of the week was most definitely Genevieve’s baby shower. Some gals from church got together and just blessed me with the cutest clothes, blankies, and useful baby what-nots. As I’m typing, I’ve got the clothes and blankies going in the laundry. Can’t wait to get it all organized and put away!!

Worst Moment this week:  My not so good news this week came when we saw that Genevieve is “sunny side up” in our ultrasound. This means that she’s still head down (great position to be in for birth) but she’s going to come out face up. Now, this is not a huge deal and our doctor isn’t even concerned about it at all. What it means for me is that I’ll have some really powerful back labor and it may be more difficult to push her out. That’s just not so fun. So I’m praying that by the time I go into labor she’ll have turned around so her spine is in line with my stomach, and we’ll be all set. (It’s totally possible for her to turn, by the way. So we’ll just wait and see.)

Movement:  She was moving around like crazy this morning! Not sure what got into her, but I think she’s getting excited to see us. I had a dream the other night that I could actually see her little foot when she kicked me, like my uterus was made out of a latex balloon instead of layer upon layer of fat, muscle, and other stuff surrounded by skin. It was kind of creepy, but in my dream I figured it was normal.

Food cravings/aversions:  Eating is sounding less and less appealing to me by the day. I can get by just fine on two meals a day right now because I just don’t have the room to put anything else in there anymore. Blah.

Belly Button in or out?:  Just continuing to get flatter and flatter. Boy it looks weird. Gunnar still loves it though!

What I miss:  I had a real problem tying my shoes the other day. I was sitting in a chair and was huffing and puffing just trying to breathe while bending over. I would say that it’s gonna be flip-flops from here on out, but it just snowed this morning in Denver… so no. For the past two weeks we’ve had nothing but sunshine and high 70’s and low 80’s. It’s been beautiful! But then this morning came and all of a sudden it was gone. Sad. I guess the end of this week is supposed to bring more temps in the 70’s, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope for a nice day outside again.

What I am looking forward to:  I have another doctor appointment tomorrow and they’ll check to see if I’ve dilated anymore. I’m looking forward to seeing what my body is doing! Also looking forward to Easter! J and I are going to try out an Easter egg hunt with Gunnar. And by “hunt” I mean I’m going to throw a bunch of plastic eggs on the floor (or in the yard if its nice) and see if he’ll pick them up. We’re going to put Goldfish crackers inside and see if that spurs him on to pick them up. He LOVES those. 🙂 Pictures and video to come!

Milestones:  Genevieve is gaining about half an ounce a day. Whoa girl! She’s probably around 6.5 lbs. this week. She is busy practicing her breathing skills (actually sucking in and blowing out amniotic fluid), sucking her thumb, blinking, and pivoting from side to side. And even with all that stuff to do, I’ve still gotta believe life inside the womb is pretty darn boring. I mean, seriously, what does she do all day?

Symptoms:  Oh the contractions. I’ve begun to believe that I am one of those women who are in labor for 3 or 4 weeks before the baby comes. My body does just enough work to get itself through the first stage of labor during those couple of weeks, then when the real thing hits I rush through it like it’s a sprint to the finish line. Last night while lying in bed I had two somewhat painful contractions right in a row and I thought it was starting. J was sound asleep already so I let him be, but I got all excited like we were about to head out the door. Not so. Not so. I can verify that I am sitting here today just as pregnant as can be.

TWOsday Update Week 36!!!!!! March 27, 2012

Filed under: TWOsday Updates — teamerickson @ 1:52 pm

How far along?:  36 weeks and counting. Only 4-ish left! That’s right around a month left. Wow. I can’t believe it! Sometimes it seems that this pregnancy has gone by super quickly. And other times it seems that it just drags right along. But right now we are so close I can taste it!

Maternity clothes:  I have these one jeans that don’t have a full belly band in them. They’re sort of low-cut I guess. Anyway, I tried wearing them yesterday with a sweatshirt to do my grocery shopping and I had to keep touching my belly to make sure it wasn’t showing. I thought the sweatshirt would cover it. NOPE. Oh this belly is just huge.

Stretch marks:  The ones I had with Gunnar are beginning to slowly (very slowly) grow. But it’s ok. I’ve settled in my mind that they’re my battle scars. I’ll be proud of them.

Sleep:  Not too terrible. Though I am waking up at least four times a night to tinkle. I think the improved sleep may be because of the ceiling fan. It’s finally hot enough to sleep with that thing on. And the air circulation seems to be helping! It has been right around 80 degrees in Denver since last week. It’s crazy! Everything is starting to bloom (or at least buds are starting to show), which makes me nervous because we could totally still have a huge blizzard in April. You just never know.

Best moment this week:  I had some extra energy on Friday, so I decided to rake the leaves out of my front yard. Well, after I did that I looked at the UGLY rose bushes (and I mean ugly – they were mostly all dead) that have been there since we moved in 2.5 years ago and decided I might try to dig those out. So I dug out 6 rose bushes AND a tree that happened to be growing up in the middle of them. I was totally exhausted afterward and very sore the next day, but it was so worth it! And now I can plant something else there. Fun!

Another great moment: garage sale-ing with my friends. What a great time! And look what I found!

Matching chairs for Gunnar and Genevieve!! Both of them for $5! What a deal!

We can take them camping too. They fold up nicely. Gunnar likes the pink one better right now, but I think I’m going to fold that one up and save it for Genevieve. It’s totally fine for a boy to like pink and have a pink chair… but I’m guessing there will come a day where he may want to opt for the blue one. And I don’t want my kiddos to get into a big fight over who gets what chair. So blue for Gunnar and pink for Genevieve.

Worst Moment this week:  Oh you will never believe what happened. I noticed a large water leakage bubble in our ceiling below our bathroom on Friday afternoon. J got up Saturday and started poking around at it. He finally just tore a hole right through the ceiling to discover which pipe was leaking.

You can't really tell from the picture, but this hole is about 3ft x 2ft.

Well, that was a lot more difficult than we thought. Nothing happened when we ran the shower, sink, or toilet, so we had to do A LOT of investigating. Finally on Saturday night after running the water for at least 1.5 hours that day, we discovered that the water was leaking through the place where the bath faucet and hot/cold water knobs connect to the shower wall. The bead of caulk that usually surrounds them and keeps the water from seeping through had mostly eroded. So water was getting through when we were taking our showers because it was bouncing off our backs and onto the wall, then straight through the cracks in the caulking. (There was no pipe or drain leakage. Thank God!) So now we are left with a hole in our ceiling and some black mold up in the sub-floor. What a bummer!

Movement:  Not too much movement since there’s not too much room, but she’s still kickin’ away and making me uncomfortable. I can’t wait to meet her! I feel her kicks and punches and I’m so excited to see those kicks and punches outside. 🙂

Food cravings/aversions:  Oh. My. Word. J made me French dip the other night and it was AMAZING. He makes it in the crock pot and slow cooks it all day. There are just no words for it. And tonight we are having the leftovers. I can’t wait till dinner! 🙂

Belly Button in or out?:  Just continuing to get flatter and flatter. Boy it looks weird. Gunnar still loves it though!

What I miss:  I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again… BENDING OVER. Gunnar drops food and toys and all sorts of things on the floor all the time, and it’s just getting more and more difficult for me to pick things up and keep them clean.

What I am looking forward to:  My 36 week ultrasound this Thursday morning! Can’t wait to get another peek at this girl! I think they also start checking me to see if I’ve dilated or effaced at all during this appointment. Hoping I’ll get some of the work done before I’m in labor. I was 3 cm dilated and 80% effaced with Gunnar for 3 weeks before I went into full on labor. It would be nice if the same (or more!) is true for Genevieve! Also REALLY looking forward to Genevieve’s baby shower on Saturday! Some of the girls from church and I are getting together for a good time. And I’m sure Genevieve will score some pretty good outfits. 🙂

Milestones:  Genevieve is probably as tall as she’s gonna get. And she’s around 6 lbs. this week! She’s pretty much ready for life on the outside. Her systems are all in place and there’s not much else that needs to be done. The only thing she’s doing these days is gaining a little more weight and storing up her energy so she’ll be ready for her debut. So now we play the waiting game…

Symptoms:  Peeing like a race horse and waddling like a penguin. I’ve also had a few painless Braxton Hicks contractions this week! Sounds like my body is getting ready for the big day!!!

TWOsday Update Week 35 March 21, 2012

Filed under: TWOsday Updates — teamerickson @ 8:50 pm

How far along?:  35 weeks and counting. Only 5-ish left! And (now that it’s Wednesday) only 34-ish days!! Wow. I’ve got a countdown going on my mirror in my room in dry erase marker. So excited to keep erasing those days!

Maternity clothes:  Well they’re not great. I’m in a rut right now. I wear pretty much the same thing every day. My big jeans and a comfy maternity shirt. Not cute. Comfy. I guess my dad would be proud, since he always preached function over fashion when I was growing up. As long as I didn’t wear sweats out of the house…

Stretch marks:  The ones I had with Gunnar are beginning to slowly (very slowly) grow. But it’s ok. I’ve settled in my mind that they’re my battle scars. I’ll be proud of them.

Sleep:  Ohhhh boy! Let me tell ya. Gunnar has been sick or teething or something crazy this week. He’s been waking up around 2 or 3 in the morning every morning since Sunday. He just needs a hug and a rock in the chair and he goes back to sleep, but it’s not too fun at that hour. BUT I can honestly say that I don’t mind AT ALL because he’s been sleeping in till 9am every morning too!!!!! And he’s still napping and still going to bed on time. So mama has been getting plenty of rest so far this week.

Best moment this week:  We went to the Denver Botanic Gardens with some friends on Sunday. It wasn’t amazing outside because the flowers haven’t bloomed quite yet. But it was really fun to walk around with Gunnar in the tropical greenhouse and around the outside Japanese garden. Then we went over to the Chance’s house for dinner, put Gunnar down (he fell asleep in about 5 minutes!) and watched a movie. What a great time!

Worst Moment this week:  I guess just having a sick boy is probably the worst thing about this week. I took his temp yesterday and it was 101 degrees. Poor little guy. I think the temp was mostly from teeth, but he’s still got a cough and a good amount of snot. He’s much happier today than he was yesterday so that makes me feel a lot better.

Movement:  I got up with Gunnar this morning around 3am to rock him back to sleep and Genevieve started pushing her little rump and feet straight up into my ribs and organs. It was painful and made me sick to my stomach. Bleh! Super uncomfortable. And when I got back in bed she started doing tae-bo exercises. Nice. Real nice, baby girl.

Food cravings/aversions:  I can’t eat very much at one time anymore, which is probably a good thing. I don’t exactly need to gain more weight between now and the birth. I’m excited about all things protein and sweet. We had pasta with chicken tonight for dinner. Delish! Then I had a little ice cream with chocolate sauce for dessert. Mmmmm…

Belly Button in or out?:  Just continuing to get flatter and flatter. Boy it looks weird. Gunnar still loves it though!

What I miss:  Being able to run around. I really have to watch myself lately whenever I’m walking or cleaning the house or playing with Gunnar. If I over exert myself at all I become out of breath and nauseous very quickly. Boo.

What I am looking forward to:  My 36 week ultrasound next Thursday morning! So excited to see this girl a little closer. Also really looking forward to my baby shower, coming up on March 31. Can’t wait to get all those clothes and baby items sorted and ready for my girl!

Milestones:  Genevieve is probably about 20 inches and 5.5 lbs! She’s packing on the pounds ounces every day. 🙂 She’ll continue to basically just add weight and fat to her little body up until D-day. Can’t wait to squeeze those little thighs and cheekies! She probably won’t grow much more in length, though, as she’s pretty much maxed out my womb.

Symptoms:  Peeing all the time. ALL THE TIME. I hate it so much because it’ll feel like I have to go soooo bad, and then hardly anything comes out. (No, mom, I don’t have a UTI, my bladder is just the size of a grape right now since my baby’s big ol’ head is resting right on it.)

And that’s the news…

TWOsday Update Week 34 March 13, 2012

Filed under: TWOsday Updates — teamerickson @ 2:04 pm

How far along?:  34 weeks and 6-ish to go! Ok, we are getting super close now. I keep feeling like I’m going to go into labor any minute, but I have to check myself and remember that I’ve still got a ways to go. Here’s to hoping that Genevieve gets bigger and I don’t!!

Maternity clothes:  Got a new maternity shirt from Grandma and Grandpa Erickson. So sweet and thoughtful of them! And I could really use it since I just keep getting bigger. 🙂 In baby clothes news, J and I went to a huge consignment sale this weekend and got a bunch of fun clothes for Genevieve! We could never afford all the stuff we got normally, but we ended up spending $34 and getting 30 items for Genevieve, 8 items for Gunnar, some reusable nursing pads, and a cute toy that Gunnar just had to have. What a steal!

Stretch marks:  I might have one new stretch mark. Maybe two. Oh boo. It’s too soon to start this already!

Sleep:  Last night was AMAZING for sleep. I actually woke up feeling rested! The previous nights were horrible, though. I’ve had a bit of a cold or allergies or something going on and I just haven’t felt good lately. I’ve taken Benadryl a few nights to help with breathing so I could fall asleep, and it definitely worked but I was always left with a bit of a hangover that would last until the next evening. I didn’t take anything last night and I felt much better this morning. Yay!

Best moment this week:  Probably hanging out with J and Gunnar at the consignment sale. We had such a blast running around and finding good deals. J and Gunnar did a lot of playing with the toys that were there (wish I would have had my camera!) and I got to rummage through all the little girl clothes. When we were done we went out to Five Guys for dinner. Delicious! We don’t normally treat ourselves unless we’re using our allowances, but I didn’t have anything to make at home (because I forgot to take the chicken out of the freezer and soak the beans) so we decided to just enjoy it! What a great way to end the weekend!

Worst Moment this week:  Yesterday was pretty bad. I felt sick most of the day and even became a little nauseous. Genevieve is really pushing my buttons. And by buttons I mean sensitive organs. She gets herself into the craziest positions and then stretches certain ways that make me want to hurl. I don’t remember this with Gunnar. He was more of a kicker.

Movement:  She’s still moving around. Her favorite time to move is about ten minutes after I crawl into bed. Little stinker knows it’s mama’s time to sleep.

Food cravings/aversions:  I’m back on the sweets train. Can’t get enough of that good ol’ chocolate. I’m trying to make better choices though and eat sweet fruits instead. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it does not.

Belly Button in or out?:  Just continuing to get flatter and flatter. Boy it looks weird. Gunnar still loves it though!

What I miss:  Being able to bend over and pick something up off the ground without feeling like I’m going to hurl right afterward. Makes cleaning the house a lot more challenging.

What I am looking forward to:  I have my 34 week appt. tomorrow. We’ll get to hear baby’s heart beat, so that’s always fun. Then I’ll be scheduling our 36 week appt. (with ultrasound!) when I check out. Also looking forward to getting all of Genevieve’s clothes washed and put away so they’re ready to wear!

Milestones:  Genevieve could be as tall as 20 inches and weigh as much as 5 lbs right now! That’s about the size of a bag of flour. Woohoo! And her fingernails have now reached the end of her fingertips, and may even curl a little over the tip. Need to remember to take some clippers to the hospital. Those baby fingernails are sharp!

Symptoms:  Foggy head, tired, feeling just a little crazy, excited for baby’s arrival, waddling everywhere, feeling the need to get everything ready.

TWOsday Update Week 33 March 6, 2012

Filed under: TWOsday Updates — teamerickson @ 2:44 pm

How far along?:  33 weeks and 7-ish to go! This makes it LESS THAN 50 DAYS till our precious girl is here. Oh yay!

Maternity clothes:  Enough about that. Let’s talk about baby clothes! I’ve gotten a few outfits already from some friends of mine and from my sister. They’re all ready to go and I’m so excited to see my little girl in them! Every time we’re at a store with baby clothes I have to go take a look at the girl section. Such cute stuff!!

Stretch marks:  I might have one new stretch mark. Maybe two. Oh boo. It’s too soon to start this already!

Sleep:  I’ve been getting a lot of sleep lately, but none of it is good quality sleep. I’ve just reached that point where there’s nothing I can do about it. So sad. In fact, I woke up this morning and my right hip was numb from laying on it for too long. I walked around with bit of a limp until noon!

Best moment this week:  We had a super great moment this week! Let me preface this by saying that we’ve had a renter in our basement since November and she just moved out into her own condo. It was awesome having her here and having that extra income. A couple of weeks ago I also mentioned that J is getting a raise. Well. It just so happens that his raise doesn’t kick in till April and our renter was gone at the end of February. So things were about to get REAL tight in our already tight budget for the month of March… While we were at church on Sunday, one of the admins there handed us a card that had our names on it and told us someone had left it on her desk. We opened it and were completely floored to find the exact amount in gift cards that our renter would have paid us for the month of March!!!!!!!!! Whoever gave it wanted it to be anonymous. There was no name in there, just a note that God had told them we could use the money. HOLY. SMOKES. Made me cry. My God provides!!

Worst Moment this week:  On Thursday morning I loaded up our dishwasher to the max, put the soap in, shut it and turned it on. Then I heard… NOTHING. Yep, our dishwasher broke. So we found one on Craigslist and by Friday night we had it installed and running. The guy sold it to us for $50. He just wanted to get rid of it because he’s remodeling his kitchen. So far it’s working great!

Movement:  As I type this I’m having to lean as far back in my chair as I can. Baby girl has her little booty jammed up in my ribs. Super uncomfortable!!

Food cravings/aversions:  I had been craving yellow cake with chocolate frosting for about a week. So I bought some mix and frosting last night cause it was on sale. I brought it home and made it. And now I don’t want it anymore. Anyone want to come over for cake? 🙂

Belly Button in or out?:  Just continuing to get flatter and flatter. Boy it looks weird. Gunnar still loves it though!

What I miss:  Sitting straight up. I’m always leaning back these days because Genevieve seems intent on pushing herself as far up into my ribs/organs as possible.

What I am looking forward to:  My 36 week appointment and ultrasound. Can’t wait to see how she’s doing in there! Also looking forward to April. Cause it means my baby is almost here!!

Milestones:  Genevieve is over 4.5 lbs this week and is ranging in size from 17-19 inches! She could grow up to a full inch in this week alone! And she’s putting on about a half a pound a week. She can gain up to double her weight by the time she’s ready to come out. I’ve reached full capacity in regards to amniotic fluid, so that’s why I’m feeling her nudges and kicks so much more these days. Other news – Our little girl has her own immune system now, so she’s all set to fight off infections. Yay!

Symptoms:  I have the foggiest head right now. I can’t remember anything. I can’t put a thought together. I can’t even put a sentence together. It’s just mostly blank in my noggin. The other thing – my sense of smell has really picked up this week. J opened a bottle of wine in the kitchen and I could smell it from the living room. Weird!
