Here we go!

Weekly Update – 39 weeks! October 22, 2010

Let me just start this by saying today would be the perfect day to have a baby.  I got a ton of sleep last night.  It’s a full moon.  And it’s my Grandma Jean’s birthday, so of course she would be so pleased!  Come on baby!

How far along?:  39 weeks!  Only 1 week to go!  And 7 days!!  I never thought I’d get here.  This whole process seems like it’s taking FOREVER!

Maternity clothes:  Comfy today in my (borrowed from Keturah) big jeans and a light cotton cowl neck sweatshirt.  Perfect for the cold day today!  Yay Denver for finally picking up on the fact that it’s FALL.

Stretch marks:  Still the same ones under the belly button.  And I think they’ve multiplied.  My stretch marks are giving birth to offspring, why can’t I?

Sleep:  Well last night was GLORIOUS!  Oh yes.  I still woke up plenty of times, but I decided I was going to take today off from work.  (There are too many sick people at the office lately and I really don’t want to get what they have.  I started feeling worn down yesterday and a little yucky.)  So I slept in (yes!) this morning and am having a wonderful day with mom!

Best moment this week:  Of course, mom being here has got to top the list.  She’s gone grocery shopping for us and is making delicious dinners every night.  AND THEN she does the dishes.  I ask if she wants some help, but she says I should just sit back and relax.  Well you don’t have to tell me twice!  🙂  Thanks for all you’re doing mom!  You’ve taken a really big load off my shoulders!

Another great moment from this week was when Kiffen came over on Saturday and helped me set up my nursery and clean the house.  And when I say she helped me, I really mean that she did most of the work and I sort of helped her because I was exhausted!  God has blessed us with some amazing friends.  Not everyone would come over to your house and set up your nursery and vacuum your stairs AND not be grossed out by all the dog hair in your loft.  Thanks Kiff for being a true friend!  You are a blessing!

Worst Moment this week:  Ooo, getting the membranes stripped was ouchy.  Just plain uncomfortable.

Movement:  There’s been a lot of movement ever since my Dr. appt.  I keep hoping baby will poke a hole through the sac and break my water so we can get this party started!

Food cravings/aversions:  Sugar.  I crave sugar.  And it’s terrible for me.  I also crave milk, and when we run out I sort of panic.  It’s a main staple for me.

Belly Button in or out?:  Still getting flatter and flatter.  Creepy.

What I miss:  All the energy of normal life.  Oh, and sleeping on my stomach.  That is going to be a real treat once this thing is all over!!

What I am looking forward to:  I just going to leave the same thing I wrote last week.  LABOR.  I know, I won’t be loving it once it starts, but I’m looking forward to getting this gimondo baby out.

Milestones:  No more real milestones left.  Baby’s even pretty much stopped growing.  We’re just WAITING…

Symptoms:  Sore back.  Sore hips.  Crampy muscles.  Overall crankiness and moodiness.  (Sorry J, I know, I know.)  And all sorts of other unpleasantries that I don’t think you want to hear about.  So we’ll leave it at that.

Weekly Update – 38 weeks! October 15, 2010

Filed under: Belly Pictures,Pregnancy,Weekly Updates — teamerickson @ 8:55 am

How far along?:  38 weeks!  Only 2 weeks to go!  And 14 days!!  Let’s all hope I don’t make it there.  🙂

Maternity clothes:  Loving my big jeans still.  And today, as you will see in the photos below, I am wearing the cute cotton tank J got me for Mother’s Day this year.  It fits now!

Stretch marks:  Still the same ones under the belly button.  😦

Sleep:  Why is it that I always get thirsty at night?  I seriously can’t resist a huge glass of water.  And then I pay for it dearly by waking up every three hours or so.  Maybe this is God’s way of getting me used to waking up for feedings in the middle of the night.

Best moment this week:  My coworkers threw us a baby shower this week!  It was on Tuesday and J came over to the office for it.  It was so sweet of them!  A bunch of them went together to get us some of the big stuff on our registry, including our mattress!  It’s so nice to have all that taken care of.  And I got my Moby Wrap.  Oh I am so excited about that!

We also got an awesome fruit basket from our pals Eunice and Mike last night.  It was so sweet and thoughtful!  I ate a banana from it this morning.  And I have an Apple Pear in my lunch.  I’ve never had one of those, so looking forward to trying something new!  And there’s mango in there too, so I’ll have to dig into that later!!

Worst Moment this week:   Still being pregnant when I woke up this morning…  🙂  Honestly my memory is a little shot right now, so I can’t think of a worst moment.

Movement:  Baby has slowed down considerably cause it is getting super duper crowded in there.  But I’m still feeling it every now and then.  Especially when baby wants to stretch out and jams his or her little tushy right up into my rib cage.  What a sweetie.

Food cravings/aversions:  I’d really like a nice, juicy filet mignon right now.  Oh man that sounds so good!  J was talking about maybe taking me out on a date tonight, so I think I may request somewhere with red meat.

Belly Button in or out?:  Still getting flatter and flatter.  Creepy.

What I miss:  Hopping out of bed.  Ya know, just jumping right out.  Without having to wind up first.  Also, rolling over in bed without looking like I’m wrestling an alligator.  (The alligator in this scenario is my body pillow.)

What I am looking forward to:  LABOR.  I know, I won’t be loving it once it starts, but I’m looking forward to getting this gimondo baby out.  And we have two more classes this weekend, one for CPR & First Aid, and one for Baby Care.  So here’s to hoping we can put J’s “what to do with a choking baby” fear to rest.

Milestones:  Baby is ready.  Soooo ready.  He or she is huge.  The head is engaged.  Mom is 3cm dilated and measuring more like 39 weeks.  Baby’s just packin’ on the pounds in there.  And maybe finishing some last minute details.  COME OUT BABY!  WE WANT TO MEET YOU!!!

Symptoms:  Oh my achin’ bacon.  My back has been killin’ this week.  I’m also all sorts of exhausted.  Not even really in the mood to nest.  I just don’t have the energy for it.  Ah well, whatever still needs to get done can be finished after the baby is here.  So I’m going to relax.

From the front. Notice the top J gave me for Mother's Day. What a sweet guy.

The Bump from the side. It just keeps growing.

And the bump in all its glory.

Here’s hoping you all have a fabulous weekend!  If I happen to cross your mind, just shout out a little prayer that I’ll go into labor.  🙂

Weekly Update – 37 weeks! October 8, 2010

No worries, I’m still here and still pregnant!

How far along?:  37 weeks!  Only 3 weeks to go!  And 21 days!!  Oh it is getting so close.  Freaks me out.

Maternity clothes:  Still wondering when it will be cold in Denver so I can wear sweatshirts and long pants.  Love those corduroys, but they’re hot!

Stretch marks:  The ones I got last week have become a little darker now.  Booo.  But they’re still just under my belly button, so that’s good.

Sleep:  Much less tossing and turning this week and it’s all thanks to my friend Kiffen!  She let me borrow her Snoogle body pillow and let me tell you it has drastically improved my sleep.  I still have to get up to potty 4 times a night, but I’m no longer waking up to roll over or because one side is numb or what have you.  So I’m still tired, but not as frustrated as last week.

Best moment this week:  J brought me some Yogurt from Yogurtland!  It was so sweet.  He stopped by on his way home from work one night and surprised me.  He said it was for taking such good care of him while he was dealing with the GOUT.

Other great moment: J and I finally finished the process to be licensed as pastors in our denomination.  We went through the licensing service during our district conference on Wednesday evening.  What an awesome time!

And the best moment!  Seeing baby at our ultrasound Thursday morning.  Great news: Baby is looking like he or she is in great shape.  Heart is beating along at 137 bpm and baby has meconium already stored up for his or her first poopy diaper.  Yay???  Baby is head down (which means he/she is in the best possible position to make an entrance!) and he or she even has hair!  We got to see it on the ultrasound screen.  Fun!   Baby’s head is – get this – in the 99.92 percentile.  As my loving husband J so sweetly pointed out, “Wow, so that means out of 1,000 babies, only 8 of them will have heads bigger than ours.”  Hmmm, thanks for that lovely insight.  Baby’s weight was clocked at 7lbs 5oz, but that measurement can be off as much as a pound on either side.  And great news for me: I’m already dilated 2-3 centimeters (out of 10), and I’m 80% effaced (out of 100%), so that means my body has already done part of the work for labor and delivery!  Yay body!

Worst Moment this week:   None that I can think of, but work has been really busy this week.  I’m trying to finish up everything that needs to be in place before I go into labor, so I’m rushing around a lot!  I’m not taking off work early (unless it just gets to be too much) so I pretty much plan on going into labor in my chair.  Woohoo!

Movement:  Baby has slowed down considerably cause it is getting super duper crowded in there.  But I’m still feeling it every now and then.  Especially when baby wants to stretch out and jams his or her little tushy right up into my rib cage.  What a sweetie.

Food cravings/aversions:  Candy and protein.  Trying to go for the protein more often.  🙂  And I’m finding I can only eat small meals at a time.  If I eat too much, I make myself sick.

Belly Button in or out?:  Still getting flatter and flatter.  Creepy.

What I miss:  Being able to do all sorts of housework and lifting heavy objects up and down stairs.  Now my back aches and I’m just too tired to get things done a lot of the time.

What I am looking forward to:  Baby coming out.  Also, we have our Childbirth class at the hospital this Saturday.  It’s an all day thing and should be really informative for what to expect when we’re in the hospital.

Milestones:  Baby is OFFICIALLY FULL TERM this week!  That’s great news!  It means that baby is no longer considered premature if I go into labor at any time now.  And his or her lungs and other important body systems are likely developed enough that baby will thrive outside of the womb.  I’m not in a rush to get baby out, since there’s still quite a bit of preparation for us to do, but it’s nice to know that if baby comes before we expect it, he or she will likely be just fine and dandy.

Symptoms:  Back aches.  Numb hands, and sometimes a little soreness of the hands too.  Feet and lower legs are RED.  Nothing to worry about, just a sign of pregnancy.

Side note:  Baby has hiccups as I’m typing this.  Cute!

Weekly update – 36 weeks!! October 1, 2010

Filed under: Belly Pictures,Pregnancy,Weekly Updates — teamerickson @ 8:56 am

How far along?:  36 weeks!  Only 4 weeks to go!  And 28 days!!  And we are now in the month of October!  Could very possibly be baby G’s birth month.  How very exciting!

Maternity clothes:  I have a couple of really fun winter-ish outfits that I would absolutely love to wear, but it’s still too hot outside.  😦  When will Denver realize it’s Fall?  When will the chilly breezes come?  And when will the snow get here?  I really want to wear my cute outfits!  And my F-Ugg boots.

Stretch marks:  Ok, they have finally made an appearance.  My stomach finally gave in this week and I have a couple of light stretch marks on the underside of my belly.  I guess that would be the place I would pick for stretch marks, considering they’ll always be covered by chonies or pants or swimsuit bottoms.  But I’m still sad about it…  BUT I’m also happy that my body gets to do this wonderful thing called pregnancy, so if stretch marks are a part of it, bring it on.

Sleep:  Oh my word.  Refer to my sleeping post from earlier this week and multiply that by every night of sleeping this week.  I can’t believe how many times I’ve woken up just to turn over or go potty.  Me so sleepy.

Best moment this week:  J and I got to take our babymoon last weekend and it was so fun!  We went up to the DoubleTree Hotel in Denver (I had a gift certificate for a 2 night stay) and we just plain relaxed!  Oh it was the best!  We took time to just hang out together.  We slept in, went to breakfast, took naps, watched cable TV, walked around Denver, and did NOTHING for two whole days!  Speaking of watching TV, I have to admit we watched Jersey Shore and oh my word at the crazy on that show.  That’s all I’m going to say about that.

Another best moment: being remembered by all of my Rancho Cucamonga friends!  A few of them got together and bought J and I a bunch of stuff from our registry.  I could not believe my eyes at all the fun in the box!  Our monkey bouncy seat, our lamp, our mobile, some socks, a wipes case, a themometer…  It was like having our very own baby shower with them, except they weren’t actually in the room.  But they were in my heart (I’m a cheeseball) and the whole thing just made me smile.  And I also teared up a little.  Because what’s a pregnant woman to do?

And another great moment:  I’ve been looking for a dresser for the baby’s room for FOREVER and just haven’t found the right thing.  I’ve been to garage sales and found nothing, been to WalMart and Target and Babies R Us (where everything is either too expensive or a piece of rickety ol’ junk), and looked all over craigslist (where people think that just because they say “antique” in the post means that they can charge $400 for their piece-of-crap-ugly-210-pound-teal-and-mauve-dresser-with-oval-mirror-on-top) to find just the right thing.  Finally yesterday I came across a post for two different dressers that were listed in the same town as us, but there was no picture.  I knew I might be wasting my time, but I wanted to check it out to see if it would work for us.  Because the guy was only asking $20 each!!!  And you all know how I love a good deal.  So my huge, hunky husband and I met him at his house after work to check them out.  We looked at the white dresser first, considering that it’s the color of most of our baby furniture, but it was a little big.  So then we checked out the blue/gray dresser and it was PERFECT!  It needs a little work (couple of nails in the back, some sanding, painting) but it will be so cute once we paint it white!  And the guy only asked for $10 for this dresser!  What a huge blessing to have that marked off our list.

It will fit in with the rest of the room perfectly!

Worst Moment this week:   While we were on our babymoon, J got me sick.  He had had a stomach bug since Thursday, but it wasn’t affecting him too much.  I got it late Saturday night.  And my system decided it was time to clean itself out.  So for Saturday night and all day Sunday I needed to be within a 30 second walk to the toilet at all times.  But then it was over for me.  J has had it for about a week, and he’s finally getting over it now.  Poor guy.

Movement:  Not a ton of movement this week.  Nothing to be worried about.  It’s just getting really tight in there for baby.  Still getting enough kick counts in, so no worries!

Food cravings/aversions:  Sugar.  Anything sugary.  I’m just loving candy and all sorts of things.  And I’m actually kind of craving it!  I hate that.  I know it’s not good for mom or baby, but sometimes I just can’t help myself and I give in.

Belly Button in or out?:  Still getting flatter and flatter.  Creepy.

What I miss:  Sleep this week.  Yes, glorious sleep.

What I am looking forward to:  Ultrasound next week!  Also, baby being born.  Really looking forward to that.  And I’m really excited my mom will be out here in 26 days!  Can’t wait to have her here.  And hoping she’ll make me her homemade bran muffins!  Yum!

Milestones:  Most of baby’s systems are pretty well perfected by now.  From what I understand, baby is slowing down in the growth area and storing up energy for his or her big day of arrival!  Baby is probably around 6 lbs. already!  And he or she gains about an ounce a day.

Symptoms:  Carpal tunnel, I hate you.  Also, I have this pregnancy rash on my belly.  It’s not itchy (thank goodness) but it is kind of yucky looking.

And now for some pictures!

The front.

To the side. J cut off my part of my head here.

And another side. Would ya look at that thing?!

Weekly Update – 35 weeks! September 24, 2010

How far along?:  35 weeks!  Only 5 weeks to go!  And 35 days!!  Or really, let’s be more realistic about this:  Could be 7 weeks to go and 49 days.  Oh Lordy please don’t let it be.

Maternity clothes:  It was finally cool enough ONE day this week to wear my corduroys.  I have three pairs of corduroy maternity pants that I haven’t even been able to wear because it’s so dang hot outside.  WHEN WILL THE SNOW COME?!!!!!!!!!!!

Stretch marks:  Still no stretch marks!!!  I can’t believe it.  But I’m not getting my hopes up about not getting them.  I know I’ve still got more growing to do.

Sleep:  Well I’m getting my normal sleep in.  By “normal” I mean really crummy pregnancy sleep.  I’ve become accustomed to it.  BUT.  J has not been sleeping well lately.  He told me it’s because every time I toss or turn or get up to use the bathroom or (get this) breathe heavy, he wakes up.  Talk about a sensitive man.  🙂  So I’m going to buy him some earplugs today.  I love him so much that I’ll invest $5 or even $10 if it helps him sleep through the night.  But he’d better remember this in 35-49 days…

Best moment this week:  This week I’m training the gal at work who is going to replace me when I go on maternity leave.  She’s already well acquainted with all of us here because she fills in part time for reception and other admin duties.  Plus her mom works here.  So anyway, her training is going awesome!  She’s picking it up very quickly.  So I’m super excited that I’m going to have a smart person filling in for me, versus a numskull temp who knows nothing about our foundation.

Also, had my Dr. appt. this week and baby is doing just fine!  His or her little heart beat has certainly jumped!  It was at 160 bpm today!  And all I had eaten was 4 M&M’s and a glass of milk for breakfast.  (I ate more later, don’t worry, it’s just that my appt. was early.)

Worst Moment this week:   So the Biggest Loser premiered this week.  This would normally be a very exciting thing for me.  Except that the premier was totally boring.  BORING!  So whatever.  I know it will probably pick up next week.  So I’ll stay tuned.

Movement:  There was a lot of movement today!  Good fun times.  Sometimes I can’t tell the difference between a contraction and baby stretching.

Oh cuteness!  I just rubbed my stomach to see if baby would respond and I got quite a few kicks and taps!  Love that.  Just love it.

Food cravings/aversions:  Chocolate.  Just chocolate this week.  But I didn’t eat any today or yesterday.  (Except the 4 M&M’s for breakfast, but that’s cause they’re in my countdown jar of days till baby arrives, so I have a good excuse there.)

Belly Button in or out?:  Still getting flatter and flatter.  Creepy.

What I miss:  I miss being really, really comfortable while lounging around.  I also miss cuddling up in bed and falling into a deep, deep, deep sleep.

What I am looking forward to:  Ultrasound in two more weeks!  Can’t wait to see how big baby is!  Also looking forward to our babymoon (like a honeymoon for pregnant couples) that J and I are going to take soon!  Will write about that after it happens. AND!  AND!  I’m going to have a massage today!  I took a PTO day at work, so I’m going to get a prenatal massage for myself.  I cannot wait!

Milestones:  Baby is now most likely fully grown as far as height goes.  He or she is topped out around 20 inches and will stay that way till birth.  BUT, baby is still packing on the pounds, probably at a rate of close to a half pound a week!  He or she is already around 5.5 lbs!  And from here on out, that’s baby’s basic job–pack on the pounds.

Symptoms:  Still with the numbness of the hands.  Also, tired.  And my back hurts.

Weekly Update – 34 Weeks! September 17, 2010

Filed under: Belly Pictures,Pregnancy,Weekly Updates — teamerickson @ 9:13 am

How far along?:  34 Weeks!  Only 6 weeks to go!  And 42 days!!  It seems so unreal that I’m already here.  And at the same time I keep thinking, “When is this going to END?!”

Maternity clothes:  You can see my lovely “bigger” maternity jeans in my pics below.  Also, if you’ve noticed a pattern that I wear this pink shirt a lot in my photos, it’s not because it’s my favorite or I love it so much (although I do really like it), it’s because it’s tight and shows off my belly the best.  Some of my other shirts make me look bigger than I am because they’re baggy.  But I think this one makes for a pretty accurate picture.

Stretch marks:  Still no stretch marks!!!  I can’t believe it.  But I’m not getting my hopes up about not getting them.  I know I’ve still got more growing to do.

Sleep:  I have been waking up EVERY morning sometime between 2-3am to use the facilities.  It’s weird that it’s taken on such a pattern.  I’m almost always up right at 3am.  Kinda creeps me out.

Best moment this week:  J and I attended our first baby class through our hospital.  Breastfeeding.  Needless to say, J was really looking forward to it.  Ha!  Yeah right.  I wish you all could have seen the look on his face when the instructor announced she was about to start our first video.  🙂  But it was super duper informative and I’m really glad we went to it.  I never realized how much goes into that whole thing.  AND, every woman there had her significant other with her, with the exception of one, whose husband was traveling for business.  So I’m really grateful to my ever supportive husband who went with me.

Worst Moment this week:   Yesterday I received a special gift in the way of Braxton Hicks contractions.  I must have had somewhere around 20 of them.  And they each lasted a minute or two.  They don’t hurt, but they are super uncomfortable.  Nothing to worry about unless they develop a pattern (mine didn’t) but they’re a real pain in the neck… or uterus.

Movement:  Getting more movement in the mornings and late evenings these days, as opposed to all throughout the day.  And I can feel baby anytime I touch my stomach because he or she is so big now.  That’s fun!

Food cravings/aversions:  Can I get some Yogurtland?  Yes please.  I want it all the time, though I rarely get it because it’s more than a 5 minute drive AND there’s always crazy loud teenagers there.  My WONDERFUL friend Kelly got me a gift card there as part of my baby shower gift, and I’ve only used half of it so far.  But I think I might have to use that puppy this weekend.  By the way, do not go for the Blood Orange Tart.  It’s gross.  Reminds me of chewable orange Vitamin C.

Belly Button in or out?:  Still getting flatter and flatter.  Creepy.

What I miss:  I realized while sitting on the floor last night that I can’t bring my knees up to my chest anymore.  I’m sure this has been the case for a while, but I tried it without thinking last night and I really can’t do it.  Also, I can’t lie on my stomach.  Hate that.

What I am looking forward to:  Ultrasound in a couple of weeks!  And J and I are going on a two night babymoon soon!  It’s like a honeymoon for pregnant couples.  We’ll still be in town, but we’re going to stay in a hotel and sleep in and spend some good quality time together.  So fun!

Milestones:  Baby is gettin’ huge.  Close to 20 inches.  Hovering around 5 lbs.  If it’s a boy, his testicles are descending into the scrotum.  And baby’s fingernails are reaching the tips of the fingers now, so I’d better invest in some good clippers.  Also, babies born between 34-37 weeks generally do fine as long as there are no other health issues, so that’s a fun Friday fact for ya!

Symptoms:  That whole numbness of the hands thing is beginning to drive me crazy.  I have it every morning in my right hand, and I get it while sitting at my computer all day too.  Booo.

And here we go with the photos for the week

Awww, hi baby!

Look at the size of that thing! (It's like an orange on a toothpick!) And for those of you who didn't get that reference, it's from So I Married an Axe Murderer. Definitely worth a rent from Blockbuster.

Weekly Update – 33 weeks! September 10, 2010

How far along?:  33 Weeks!  Only 7 weeks to go!  And 49 days!!

Maternity clothes:  Wearing a bigger pair of maternity jeans today.  Don’t think I’ll be going back to the fun, yet tight, ones from here on out.  But these bigger ones should last till my due date.  And I am comfortable once again!

Stretch marks:  Still no stretch marks!!!  I can’t believe it.  But I’m not getting my hopes up about not getting them.  I know I’ve still got more growing to do.

Sleep:  I got a TON of sleep over the long Labor Day weekend.  I slept in every day and took naps most days too!  It was so needed.  I have more energy this week because of all that sleep.  I just need to make sure that I don’t ruin it by staying up too late.

Best moment this week:  Having J’s parents here was awesome!  I could not believe how much Larry and J got done on the house!  Larry would be busy on the house all day while we were at work, then J and Larry would team up together and work most evenings too!  It was such a blessing to have Caroline here too, I didn’t have to do dishes all week!  Yay!   And she made us dinner and did a bit of shopping for us too.  Love it!

Here’s what the guys got done:  Patched the holes in the walls (there were a lot of holes to patch, so this was a big job!), mudding and taping the basement bedroom, sanding the bedroom, texturing the walls and ceiling in the bedroom, painting the bedroom walls (I decided to paint two of the walls with Sherwin Williams Whole Wheat, and the other two walls are Behr Premium Plus, but I can’t remember what the color is called, either Cayman Bay or Catalina Coast, it’s a nice blue), painted all the baseboard, installed all the baseboard on the main floor (big time YAY!), put together the wheelbarrow (it’s been sitting in pieces for about a year now, thanks Larry!), and got rid of ALL of the construction trash in the garage!  (Again, thanks Larry!)

It’s been so nice to feel like this project is ALMOST done!  The only things we need to do are put in the baseboard in the basement bedroom, paint the basement bathroom, and paint the stair hallway on the way down to the basement.  I am so excited that we are so close!!!

Another great moment: Stepping on the scale for the first time in three weeks and seeing that I’d only gained a pound!  In three weeks!  One tiny pound!  This is good because my weight was piling on REALLY fast my entire second trimester, so having it slow down is definitely not a bad thing.  And I know baby is still getting plenty of nutrients because I haven’t slowed down my eating AT ALL.  🙂

Worst Moment this week:   Ooo, Wednesday baby decided to turn sideways in my stomach.  His or her back is to my belly, butt is on the left side, head on the right.  (I think.)  And he or she is making mommy super uncomfortable!  I actually started to feel kind of sick on Wednesday.  I think it’s because baby is messing with my insides so much.

Movement:  Baby hardly moved at all this weekend!  I mean, he or she moved enough that I knew everything was ok, but there were no real periods of exercise going on in there.  I wonder if baby knows when it’s a weekend and time for rest and relaxation.  🙂  But I was super bummed about this because Grandma Caroline didn’t get to feel baby move at all!  Every time we were home and I was laid out on the couch, baby was taking a nap or something.  There were a couple of times in the early morning or late evening hours when everyone was in bed that baby would start some calisthenics, but for the most part baby and mommy were both catching up on rest.  But soon enough we will all get to hold and play with baby, and that will be fun for all.

Food cravings/aversions:  Ooo I just can’t get enough sugar!  And I hate it!  It’s so terrible for me and the baby.  M&M’s call my name all day long.  Boooooo.  But I love my fruit, so I’m trying to choose that first.  And I just picked up a thing of cottage cheese at the store because it sounded so good!  And it did not disappoint!  Yum!

Belly Button in or out?:  Still getting flatter and flatter.  Creepy.

What I miss:  Turning over, getting up, bending over, reaching down.  All those things.  This belly has become an insurmountable obstacle in many of life’s everyday movements.

What I am looking forward to:  Finishing with our home projects.  Only a couple more things to do!

Also, I’m really, really, really looking forward to having that “empty” feeling that I’ve heard you get after delivery.  I have felt so bloated this week.  It’s like the feeling you get the first day of your period.  Just FULL.  (Sorry male readers, but it has to be said.)

And one more thing:  I’m looking forward to my next ultrasound in about 4 weeks!!!

Milestones:  Baby’s immune system has kicked into high gear.  This is great news because baby can now battle a lot of those little icky germs that will attack outside the womb.  My amniotic fluid has reached its max point, which means that jabs and kicks become a bit more painful as baby grows because there’s not as much room or cushion in there.  Baby is  hovering right around 4 or 5 pounds and is somewhere between 17-20 inches long!  That’s nearly full grown!  Baby will almost double in weight in the next seven weeks leading up to delivery.

Symptoms:  Stretching belly, aching back, and here’s a new one – numbness in hands.  This is caused by swelling and excess fluid and it affects you just like carpal tunnel.  I’m lucky that I don’t have any pain along with it, but I do have numbness and tingling.  I have to take breaks and massage my hands every once in a while.
